About the BLACKLUXE Picnic

BlackLuxe is a unique food, beverage and music festival celebrating the excellence of the black culture in a luxury picnic setting. In 2022, the founders of BlackLuxe sought to bring the African American community together to celebrate peace, love and unity. Blackluxe will take place twice a year, during black history month and Juneteenth weekend.

BlackLuxe features various DJs, live bands, stilt walkers, food trucks serving authentic cuisines and tasty drinks, bright and colorful photo installations and décor used for vibrant and beautiful photo opportunities. Patrons are encouraged to dress their best, preferably in colorful “Derby” style picnic attire and fashionable head piece that accentuates the beauty of African American culture.

Unique components of BlackLuxe are that picnic goers can bring their own foods, picnic baskets, picnic blankets and picnic tables, but DRINKS are not allowed. However, the component that takes BlackLuxe to another level is the “BEST PICNIC AREA” competition. 

Patrons are encouraged to set up lavish picnic areas in the hopes of winning a large cash prize. The competition is judged secretly. Additionally, attendees can reserve picnic areas and purchase cabanas or VIP areas. Black is love, Black is bold, Black is beautiful, Blackluxe picnic is black excellence.

WHAT AGE ARE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE?
Only adults 21 and over are allowed.
WHAT TIME IS IT HAPPENING?
It starts from 2 PM to 9 PM.
WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER?
BLACKLUXE PICNIC FESTIVAL will take place rain or shine. Please prepare accordingly. There are no refunds.
WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?
BLACKLUXE DRESS CODE requires patrons to dress to impress in colorful derby-style attire, nice headpieces, and accessories. Gatekeepers may turn away anyone not in the required dress code. Dress to showcase the excellence in Black culture.
CAN YOU BRING FOOD AND DRINKS?
Patrons may bring picnic baskets, picnic tables, and food (preferably picnic-style foods). No outside drinks are allowed—no water, alcoholic beverages, sodas, etc. Drinks will be available for purchase on site.
WILL THERE BE FOOD VENDORS AND A BAR?
Yes, there will be food vendors and bars on site.
WILL THERE BE OUTDOOR SEATING?
No. BLACKLUXE is a picnic, so only blankets are allowed. Chairs will be on site for rent for elders.
WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED?
  • No outside beverages
  • No glassware (plastic only)
  • No pets or animals
  • No tents or canopies
  • No igloos or coolers
HOW DO I ENTER THE PICNIC AREA COMPETITION?
The picnic area competition is silently judged. No official entry is needed.
CAN I BRING A TENT?
Only reserved tent spaces are allowed. Tent spaces must be paid upfront and set up between 8 AM–11 AM. Tent spaces can be purchased via Eventbrite.
CAN I DECORATE MY TENT AREA?
Yes, you may decorate during the setup period. We are not responsible for unattended areas. If decorating after setup time, space is first-come, first-served—the later you arrive, the less chance of finding a space.
ARE WE ALLOWED TO BRING UMBRELLAS?
Yes, umbrellas are allowed—but only picnic-style umbrellas.
